Write the expectation before you publish
Keep your hypothesis, baseline, expected result, and review date together. After publishing, compare the observed result with the call you made before the outcome was known.
Before the upload
Name the audience question, the change you are testing, the comparison sample, and what would make you reconsider. Set a review date appropriate for the format instead of checking every hour.
After the upload
Record what happened, any distribution changes, and whether the baseline remained comparable. A result can support your expectation, contradict it, or remain inconclusive.
An illustrative experiment
A creator tests a comparison format after three earlier comparisons perform well. They expect 0.9x to 1.3x their usual same-age views. A 1.25x result fits that range, but does not prove that format caused the outcome.
